Q&A: Ask Fanny – How to Have an Orgasm

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Deborah Sundahl Female Ejaculation ExpertG-spot expert Deborah Sundahl, a.k.a. Fanny Fatale, answers your questions about female ejaculation and the g-spot.

Dear Fanny,

I am 20 years old and have a girlfriend, but I can’t orgasm. She has been really good at helping me try, but I still can’t. I don’t like doing it myself either; it just doesn’t feel good.  I wish I could have an orgasm, but I don’t know what to do and feel I should reach out for some help now.

Renee

Dallas, TX

Dear Renee,

I suggest that you make a concerted effort to have your orgasm by yourself first, and give your partner a rest. It is hard on the relationship and a lot of work for the partner, without the reward or pleasure. Better to keep your relationship free of a hard burden that is mostly your affair anyway.

What to do? You can start with these three things:

1. Read this wonderful book on how to have an orgasm. Becoming Orgasmic by Julia Heiman and Joseph LoPiccolo–here’s the Powell’s Books link–takes you step by step through the elements of female orgasm and guides you to fitting sexuality into other areas of your life.

Betty Dodson and Carlin Ross2. Check out this new video, Betty Dodson’s Body Sex Workshop.

Betty Dodson is called the Mother of Masturbation because since the 1960s, she has been teaching women how to have an orgasm. Back then, very few woman had orgasms, and it was a feminist mission to change that sad fact. Now 83 years old, she is still going strong! Aided by her younger business partner, Carlin Ross, they just finished another video of Betty’s famous workshop teaching women to ejaculate. Enjoy and learn!

3. Lastly, ask yourself what is it about touching your body that bothers you? Breath and relax into the touch. Notice what keeps you from relaxing into the touch. Be very aware of what crosses your mind, or what images comes up. This is your issue. Take this and work with it, either through simple awareness that this is the problem, or perhaps the help of a therapist.  But first, read the book and watch the video!

Pleasure will be yours! Give yourself time and permission, that’s all.

Ask Fanny: Lubrication with Oil?

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Deborah Sundahl Female Ejaculation ExpertG-spot expert Deborah Sundahl, a.k.a. Fanny Fatale, answers your questions about female ejaculation and the g-spot.

Dear Deborah,

Is lubrication with oil a must or should we reserve it for those times when the surfaces are not that moist? I shall be grateful for your clarification on this rather basic point.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year.

Best regards,

Curious in India

Dear Curious,

Olive oil is nourishing to the skin, as Queen Cleopatra from ancient Egypt knew. Use lubricant that is nourishing to the vagina, like natural oils of any kind (jojoba, almond, avocado, etc.).  View the vagina as skin that needs or likes “food,” rather than using a lubricant to “make” her ready.

As you will learn when you read my book, Female Ejaculation and the G-Spot, I encourage every woman to know her body. This is more than finding a technique or “prescribing” lubricant. You will know when you want to use lubricant, and when you do not need or want to. In this way, you will have more than enough natural lubrication, too!

Again, the more you can listen to your own body, specifically your vagina and what she needs and likes, the more success you will have with the G-spot orgasm and with female ejaculation. And in the end, the more intimate connection you will have to yourself and to your partner.

Have fun!

Deborah

Takin’ It To the Streets

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

We were in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, when the Minneapolis SlutWalk took place, on October 1st, 2011.

The Minneapolis SlutWalk video, courtesy of Mill City Times, shows a typical cross-section of relatively young, relatively white Minneapolis, a city that with its sister city of St. Paul has a population of approximately three-quarters of a million people. That’s where Nan went to college, too, at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

SlutWalk Minneapolis was bound to be tamer than SlutWalk London, which was held in June, or SlutWalk New York, which was also held on October 1, 2011.

More men, it seemed, were in attendance at the Minneapolis protest, than at other protests. One was shirtless. The state was breaking autumn heat wave records, and it has turned out to be the hottest stretch in 132 years. In the 80s every day, ugh.

SlutWalks originated last spring 2011 in Toronto, when, according to a CBC report, a Toronto police constable in January told a York University personal security class that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.”

The antiviolence SlutWalk protests are sex-positive, unlike the mostly anti-porn Take Back the Night marches of the 1970s and 1980s, before women reclaimed their right to be sexual beings.

In response, and an historic turning point, On Our Backs was born, the brainchild of Deborah Sundahl, Nan Kinney, Myrna Elena and Susie Bright.

Women and lesbians began celebrating sex and sexuality in a way they hadn’t before. Women’s desires were shown in all their glory in On Our Backs magazine and those first Fatale videos.

For a perfect example of a now-classic lesbian video, don’t miss Fatale Media’s Clips. Nan and Deb star, and there is one scene in there from Deborah that is still our favorite.

Yours in good love and sex,

Nan & Christi

In Memoriam: Steve Jobs

Friday, October 14th, 2011

We were saddened when Steve Jobs died. We knew that Deborah Sundahl was an early proponent of Apple, Steve Jobs and all subsequent products.

On Our Backs lesbian magazine

Susie Bright wrote a very funny tribute to those early days at On Our Backs, when Deborah would ponder dilemmas with “What would Steve Jobs do?”

“Steve Jobs and the Lesbian Erotic Revolution” is a worthwhile read. Get ready for some laughs. We urge you to subscribe to Susie’s blog too.

Imagine our surprise to learn that Honey Lee Cottrell was being evicted from the apartment she’s had since the early days of On Our Backs.

On Our Backs was the seminal lesbian porn magazine first published by Deborah Sundahl and Myrna Elena. Nan Kinney became publisher not long after that first issue came out, and Susie Bright became editor.

Susie and Honey Lee shared that apartment back in the early days of OOB. Many of the magazine’s sexy shoots took place in it or nearby.

Susie’s piece is an amazing chronicle of the OOB shoots and that apartment on Bessie Street in San Francisco.

There are fabulous pictures in this piece. One in particular, The Voyeur shoot at the York Theater, with Susie, Honey Lee and Nan, brought a big smile to our faces. Nan’s hair!

Ask Fanny: Tantra and Female Ejaculation

Friday, July 15th, 2011

G-spot expert Deborah Sundahl, a.k.a. Fanny Fatale, answers your questions about female ejaculation and the g-spot.

Dear Fanny,
What is tantra? Is it all New Age sex stuff? What does it have to do with female ejaculation?

Caroline in New York

Dear Caroline in New York,
Tantra is about sexual energy. Tantra is also a religion and a science that goes back about 3,000 years or more.

Tantric Journey to Female OrgasmPeople then believed that sex was sacred. Their temples were carved with statues from floor to ceiling, depicting individuals, couples and groups in every imaginable sexual position and behavior. They developed hours-long rituals to set every nerve on erotic fire. And because they were meditation and yoga masters, they could hold these positions a very long time.

Margot Anand, M.A from Sorbonne University in France, is responsible for bringing this knowledge to the west in early 1980s. Her book, The Art of Sexual Ecstasy, is the sourcebook of Tantra and I highly recommend it. (These links are both to her site, margotanand.com.)

Where Tantra enters the picture with female ejaculation – and which I talk about in my lectures and classes – is using the Tantra technique to reawaken the dulled sensations of the G-spot, the female prostate. Men know the prostate is ultrasensitive; why can’t women feel theirs? Numbed out due to the way we ram it in, in Western culture.

Tantra teaches us to use the breath and energy to develop exquisite sensations of erotic pleasure, pleasure that the G-spot is capable of and is the source of.

Good luck!

Fanny

Ask Fanny: Energetic Sexuality

Monday, April 18th, 2011

G-spot expert Deborah Sundahl, a.k.a. Fanny Fatale, answers your questions about female ejaculation and the g-spot. You may send your questions to askfanny@fatalemedia.com; please put FE Q&A in the subject line.

Dear Fanny,
As lesbians, my girlfriend and I have been working at awakening the sensations of our G-spots for some time now. We are noticing how much easier it is to feel erotic pleasure just from gently touching the G-spot and focusing on it. Tantra talks about a merging of sexual energy, and you talk about how this is best transmitted through the G-spot. So what is the best way to do this?

Lenora in Massachusetts

Dear Lenora,
What a great letter! This is my suggestion to begin, as there are many more ways that you will discover as you go along.

Try putting your mouths together and your fingertips touching on the body of each other’s G-spot (where the ridges are). Then, using the breath and being still, let the erotic energy rise up, first in your genitals. Then, using the breath, breathe all that collected erotic energy in your genitals “up” to your mouths.

This is a basic Tantra technique. As you practice this technique of “inner listening” to the body’s feelings of arousal, you will find your erotic energy growing faster and easier each time.

Also, putting your mouths together in a loving kiss actually makes an energetic circle from your fingers and G-spots to your mouths, which enables this process of energetic orgasm. A great book that explains this concept and offers techniques is Healing Love through the Tao: Cultivating Female Sexual Energy by Mantak Chia (Destiny Books, 2005).

Your ejaculation will change as well; it will simply flow out of your body! So, no more stunning and showy feminist ejaculation that you push out to “spray the wall”—the feminist mantra we used when we first made the female-ejaculation video How to Female Ejaculate.

Tantric Journey to Female Orgasm: Awaken Your G-spot shows how ejaculate flows out via energetic stimulation of the G-spot.

As they say, “You’ve come a long way, baby.” Indeed!  Now the new territory to explore is energetic sexuality. With its ties to spirit, this is like the feminist Goddess culture reborn! Enjoy the new adventure.
