Sexy February

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Was February ever this romantic and sexy? It feels like a thaw, some sort of easing of tension. Everything is relaxed suddenly. How did that happen?

We had a lovely Valentine’s Day – here’s our Valentine’s Day blog posting, short and sweet about how we celebrated.

Then we watched two new DVDs just in from France. Oooh-la-la. Nice. They’ll be available soon, and we’ll let you know as soon as they are. (Can’t wait? Here’s a French lesbian DVD to make you wet wet wet!)

We’re glad it’s a long weekend here in the U.S., to celebrate Presidents’ Day. We get to sleep in, relax some more, enjoy each other. Watch some more sexy movies!

Yours in good love and sex,

Nan & Christi

Q&A: Ask Fanny – How to Have an Orgasm

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Deborah Sundahl Female Ejaculation ExpertG-spot expert Deborah Sundahl, a.k.a. Fanny Fatale, answers your questions about female ejaculation and the g-spot.

Dear Fanny,

I am 20 years old and have a girlfriend, but I can’t orgasm. She has been really good at helping me try, but I still can’t. I don’t like doing it myself either; it just doesn’t feel good.  I wish I could have an orgasm, but I don’t know what to do and feel I should reach out for some help now.

Renee

Dallas, TX

Dear Renee,

I suggest that you make a concerted effort to have your orgasm by yourself first, and give your partner a rest. It is hard on the relationship and a lot of work for the partner, without the reward or pleasure. Better to keep your relationship free of a hard burden that is mostly your affair anyway.

What to do? You can start with these three things:

1. Read this wonderful book on how to have an orgasm. Becoming Orgasmic by Julia Heiman and Joseph LoPiccolo–here’s the Powell’s Books link–takes you step by step through the elements of female orgasm and guides you to fitting sexuality into other areas of your life.

Betty Dodson and Carlin Ross2. Check out this new video, Betty Dodson’s Body Sex Workshop.

Betty Dodson is called the Mother of Masturbation because since the 1960s, she has been teaching women how to have an orgasm. Back then, very few woman had orgasms, and it was a feminist mission to change that sad fact. Now 83 years old, she is still going strong! Aided by her younger business partner, Carlin Ross, they just finished another video of Betty’s famous workshop teaching women to ejaculate. Enjoy and learn!

3. Lastly, ask yourself what is it about touching your body that bothers you? Breath and relax into the touch. Notice what keeps you from relaxing into the touch. Be very aware of what crosses your mind, or what images comes up. This is your issue. Take this and work with it, either through simple awareness that this is the problem, or perhaps the help of a therapist.  But first, read the book and watch the video!

Pleasure will be yours! Give yourself time and permission, that’s all.

5 Surefire Valentine’s Day Gifts

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Valentine’s Day gifts tend to have a predictable rhythm that nonetheless is tried and true, oftentimes expected and not at all dreary in that you can be creative, there’s some variation on the themes.

Chocolates? Yes! Flowers? Definitely!

In our experience, it’s what goes with the chocolates and flowers that can take Valentine’s Day from being just another gift-giving holiday to something special and memorable.

With that in mind, we offer five surefire Valentine’s Day gift ideas:

Where the Heart Is Special Delivery1.  Where the Heart Is. The most romantic of all Fatale’s gift sets, this 3-DVD set also has the worthwhile amateur Afterschool Special mixed in. Carolyn Caizzi’s lovely real-life couples come alive in the other videos included in this set. Free Priority Mail shipping in the U.S.

2. Butch/Femme Rules. This 3-DVD set is a mash-up of romance (Special Delivery by Carolyn Caizzi), classic Nina Hartley with the remarkable Miss Sharon Mitchell (Suburban Dykes) and pure lust (Hard Love and How to Fuck in High Heels by Shar Rednour). Free Priority Mail shipping in the U.S.

New Poll: Strictly Sexual?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Last month, we wondered if you would masturbate or have sex on a stage, like the people do in Courtney Trouble’s new DVD, Live Sex Show. We asked: Would you ever masturbate or have sex on a stage for an audience?

Lonely Dude, also known as “Straight, single and celibate in the SoCal desert” wrote:

“I most definitely would perform onstage alone,  or with someone else.  But only if there were no video cameras, no still cameras, no cell phones, etc. But in front of a live audience of onlookers, 2 people or 20 or 200,  oh yes, that would be great fun for them and me.  My ideas are far too wild, far too kinky for the dating world,  but I’d put on a great show for spectators if I ever had  the chance.”

Thanks, Lonely Dude. Maybe you want to head to San Francisco for the next Masturbate-a-Thon.

See all the November 2011 poll results.

This month, after having read an interesting article in the New York Times Magazine called “Teaching Good Sex” by Laurie Abraham. Discussing the idea of “introducing pleasure to the peril of sex education,” one seemingly enlightened sex-ed teacher in Philadelphia is quoted as saying: “[T]here is no romanticism or intimacy in porn, porn is strictly sexual.”

We ask: In your opinion, is porn, in the words of one high-school sex-ed teacher, “strictly sexual”?

Vote now! The poll is on Fatale’s home page. We’ll give you the results next month.

Until next time, we wish you happy holidays and deliciously hot sex,

Nan and Christi

Live Sex Show: New DVD from Courtney Trouble

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Live Sex Show DVDCourtney Trouble has a new DVD out, and it’s in stock at Fatale Media and ready to ship. Called Live Sex Show, the movie was shot live at a San Francisco Masturbate-a-Thon. Lucky for us, there’s a lot more than just solo performances here.

Mostly real-life couples perform in this DVD, but the highlight is a lovely, long scene with Nina Hartley and Jiz Lee. It’s sexy and humorous at the same time, worth every moment.

Like the event, Live Sex Show benefits the Center for Sex and Culture, run by Carol Queen and Robert Lawrence. You may also know Carol and Robert as the main stars of Bend Over Boyfriend.

You can watch the trailer, see pictures and order the DVD now at Fatale Media. The new DVD is in stock and ships within 24 hours.

Susie Bright’s Tribute

Susie Bright and Honey Lee Cottrell

Imagine our surprise to learn that Honey Lee Cottrell was being evicted from the apartment she’s had since the early days of On Our Backs.

On Our Backs was the seminal lesbian porn magazine first published by Deborah Sundahl and Myrna Elena. Nan Kinney became publisher not long after that first issue came out, and Susie Bright became editor.

Susie and Honey Lee shared that apartment back in the early days of OOB. Many of the magazine’s sexy shoots took place in it or nearby.

Susie’s piece is an amazing chronicle of the OOB shoots and that apartment on Bessie Street in San Francisco.

There are fabulous pictures in this piece. One in particular, The Voyeur shoot at the York Theater, with Susie, Honey Lee and Nan, brought a big smile to our faces. Nan’s hair!

Your Letters – Good Things

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

We love your letters and notes, your tweets and retweets, your FB mentions. Thank you.

Here’s a note we received last week:

“Thanks for offering these DVDs for sale. We have difficulty obtaining DVDs with lesbian content in Australia.  Very few titles available. So strange given that Sydney has probably the largest Mardi Gras parade in the world!”

–Priscilla in Australia

Thanks, Priscilla, for your kind words. Much appreciated.
