Courtney Trouble’s Sizzling Summertime Fun

We started off the summer in San Francisco, just in time for #LoveWins and the amazing San Francisco Pride March. We had a blast, just the two of us staying downtown for the weekend.
We hung out with the one and only Shar Rednour and her wife, Jackie Strano, producers and stars of some of Fatale’s all-time bestsellers (Hard Love, Sugar High Glitter City, Talk to Me Baby).
We also saw Lulu Belliveau, who is making a documentary about San Francisco dyke life in 1988, called Dyke ’88 and including life at On Our Backs, and she interviewed Nan and many others on her visit from London.

Michael Sam and the NFL
Friday, May 16th, 2014Our friend Chuck wrote to ask that we say something about the momentous notion that an openly gay man, Michael Sam, has been chosen in the NFL draft. In this case, by the St. Louis Rams.
He kissed his (white) boyfriend in celebration. On ESPN.
And that seems to be what’s eating away at Middle America. A Dallas morning talk show had one of the four Texas gals storming out during the discussion. Here’s Tuesday’s clip from KTXD-TV’s “The Broadcast” courtesy of LGBTQ Nation.
Chuck wrote, “I would rather have a Michael Sam as a teammate any day over some of these players who are bullies. I was bullied. Being a former football player, I never thought the day that we would see people such as Sam live his truth.”

Pride and Solidarity
Monday, June 22nd, 2020It is Pride Month, and we were heartened to see the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court on June 15, 2020 that affirms the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people not to be fired from their jobs because of their sexual orientation or gender.
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis by one if not four police officers. We watched in horror as Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes as Floyd cried, “I can’t breathe.”
No words more painful than those could we imagine.
Throughout history slow methods of asphixiation have been used against African Americans, Jews, queers, women and other despised minorities to silence their voices.
Silent no more, hundreds of thousands of protesters around the world have risen up to say, “No more.”
Black lives matter.
