Praying Away the Gay?

Pray Away the Gay…Heh Heh
Can you pray away the gay?

We’ve been asking some friends this question – not exactly a Gallop Poll-like sampling of individuals, but a mix nonetheless. Practicing Christians. Vietnam Vets. Southern-born ladies. Post Office workers. Just asking the people we’ve run into lately.

“Can you pray away psoriasis?” asked the Vet.

If you haven’t heard, the U.S. Vice Presidential nominee for the Republican Party this year is a woman named Sarah Palin. She worships at a church in Alaska and was taped giving a talk in which she referred to this “pray-away-the-gay” movement.

News to us. But, being gay, probably we wouldn’t have been their target audience. Intractable queers we are.

Still, when we think about it, there are at least two family members who we suspect have secretly prayed not to be gay. They both, if appearances bear out the truth, have succeeded at least in quashing their outward homo behavior.

But most of us know that praying not to be gay is laughable. It just doesn’t work!

Isn’t it possible that gays and lesbians were meant to add a little spice to an otherwise kind of boring evolutionary job?

Yours in good love and sex,

    Hi Christi, Hi Nan:

These days, I’m praying for gay to come my way…well at least a lesbian or two.

We are what we are. I am not sure who was born with what DNA, or whose DNA changes as they grow up. I am not sure anyone else is sure either. All I know is that my bedroom is very boring these days, regardless of the evolutionary obligations imposed by Darwin.

Send all eager applicants my way, please.

Eager to serve a few nice ladies, straight, bi or lesbian.

    Keep up the good work.

Being Gay is a choice, not a disease or something genetic. God says it is a choice type of lifestyle. It is sin pure and simple. We are to love everyone, but not the sin. I choose to not classify people as Gay, but rather as people. I have sins, we all do. We can pray that God helps us to choose wisely in our lives, or give us the power to do what he wants us to do, but he gives us freedom of choice. The great thing is, he gives us GRACE!!! We can be free from sin, pain and suffering when we accept him as Savior. Praise the Lord

I’m a Republican however I’ve never been on a witch hunt for gender. Gay people are people too and they are also tax payers. I may run for office someday and I vowel not to disown my fatale blogging. I’m not trying to be hip or cool, just right.

    Dear Nan,
If praying is enough to get own’s wishes, I’d gladly pray for that kind of people to disappear from our lives forever.

I’ve noticed a worrying increase in the coming out of stupid, extremist people and if we don’t do something to block their actions and intentions before it’s too late, we’ll be heading for at least other four years of still worse government, that ever G. Bush was!

Being a BDSM oriented les, the only prayer I’d like to have answered would be of having Sarah Palin in my loving hands, so she can understand how beautiful a lesbian relationship can be, especially if spiced with leather and whips…
    Hugs and kisses,
    Lorena

I really don’t know. If her praying gets the job done then I guess we’ll have to deal with it. If it doesn’t her praying that it does won’t bother me at all. I wouldn’t worry to much about these kinds of prays.

I think anyone who tries to pray away the gay should be ready to say hi to the bi.

My mother (a devout Catholic) said that a male couple came into their church.

The gay couple were brainwashed into thinking that “being gay is a sin”, so the whole church congregation prayed for them to become straight. Lo and behold they became straight (I heard that they did relapse for a while).

My mother insists that they have stayed straight, but I have my doubts!

I’ve never heard of such boloney before.
